ROOM 313
Performance, 2020
In an empty room without objects or windows, only a bed remained. For two weeks, Danino lay in the space, sleeping three hours each day on a bed he had hand-woven. A sound piece, based on a text he wrote, was broadcast continuously into the room.
The text describes a relationship between Danino and a crack he perceived in the ceiling of the bedroom - touching on themes of trauma, sexuality, homosexuality, loneliness, and memory. The work stages an encounter between the body, the bed, and the architecture of the space itself.
From the text:
“…And then, in a single moment, you notice it - a crack as thin as a vein. The body that had become the bed is exposed, loneliness spilling out in white, and you, pleasuring yourself to death.”
Note: The video is presented in Hebrew without English subtitles.
This choice preserves the intimate and unmediated quality of the work, emphasizing the tension between body, language, and memory. By withholding translation, the piece underlines the impossibility of fully transferring experience across languages.
